8-Ball
8-Ball is an explosives and arms dealer from Liberty City. In Grand Theft Auto III (2001) he breaks out of a police convoy with Claude, introduces him to the Leone Mafia and later helps him blow up the Cartel's drug ship. He also features in GTA Advance and Liberty City Stories, and was voiced by the rapper Guru.
Who is 8-Ball in GTA?
8-Ball is a bomb specialist and gun trader in the 3D-era Liberty City. He is a supporting figure rather than a boss, but he turns up at key moments across three games. His garages, branded 8-Ball Autos, fit a car with a bomb for the player, which makes him a practical ally as much as a story character.

What does 8-Ball do in GTA III?
At the start of Grand Theft Auto III, which reached PlayStation 2 in North America on 23 October 2001 according to Wikipedia, he is a prisoner in the same police transfer as Claude. Wikipedia explains that the convoy is ambushed and the two men get away together, and that 8-Ball then puts Claude in touch with the Leone family. GTA Wiki lists the opening missions Give Me Liberty and Luigi's Girls as part of this early stretch.
He comes back for the climax of the Portland chapter. Wikipedia says he helps Claude destroy the floating drug factory of the Colombian Cartel, and GTA Wiki names that job Bomb Da Base. After it he drops out of the story, though the 8-Ball Autos bomb shops stay in the game.
8-Ball in GTA Advance
Grand Theft Auto Advance, set in 2000, gives him a far bigger part. GTA Wiki calls him the third lead of that story, working alongside the protagonist Mike in jobs such as Fake IDs, Getaway and Droppin' Bombs. The same source says the game ends badly for him: after a clash with the Cartel he is hurt and taken into custody, which explains why he is a prisoner when GTA III begins.
8-Ball in Liberty City Stories
In Liberty City Stories, set in 1998, he is a minor contact for Toni Cipriani. GTA Wiki credits him with missions including No Money, Mo' Problems and Bringing the House Down.
| Game | Year set | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Liberty City Stories (2005) | 1998 | Minor contact for Toni |
| GTA Advance (2004) | 2000 | Mike's partner, arrested at the end |
| GTA III (2001) | 2001 | Escapes with Claude, helps on Bomb Da Base |
