GTA 3 cheats
In GTA 3 you type a cheat word on PC or enter a button combo on PS2 while playing. GUNSGUNSGUNS gives every weapon, GESUNDHEIT restores health, IFIWEREARICHMAN adds $250,000 and NOPOLICEPLEASE clears your wanted level. The pedestrian cheats cannot be undone once you save.
How do you enter cheats in GTA 3?
On PC, type the word while you are playing as Claude. On PS2, press the buttons in order during play. A message confirms that the cheat worked. If you type GUNSGUNSGUNS several times, your ammo keeps going up, which works as unlimited ammo.

On the first PC release (version 1.0) the armour code is spelled TURTOISE. Patch 1.1 changed it to TORTOISE.

Extra gore is already on by default in the English PC version, so the code mainly matters on PS2.
Is it safe to save with cheats on in GTA 3?
Most cheats are harmless, but the three pedestrian cheats (riot, attack and armed pedestrians) cannot be switched off, and saving while they are active keeps them on that save for good. They can make some missions much harder. Keep a spare save from before you used them. The wanted level codes can also help or hurt during missions that depend on police attention.
