Ken Rosenberg
Ken Rosenberg is a crooked, highly strung lawyer who appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) and San Andreas (2004). In 1986 he survives the ambushed drug deal with Tommy Vercetti and becomes his closest ally. By 1992 he has lost his licence and is running Caligula's casino for the Mafia, until Carl Johnson helps him out. William Fichtner voiced him.
Who is Ken Rosenberg?
Ken Rosenberg is one of the few supporting characters to carry over between two of the big 3D-era games. He is a fast-talking, permanently panicked lawyer who works for whoever pays him, and the stress of that life shows in almost every scene he is in. Players first meet him in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which launched on PlayStation 2 in North America on 29 October 2002, according to Wikipedia. He comes back in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, released in North America on 26 October 2004.
According to GTA Wiki, he was born around 1953 and is said to have scraped through his bar exams under suspicion of cheating. He started doing work for the Forelli family of Liberty City in 1978, and before 1984 he had opened his own practice, K. Rosenberg & Co., in an office at the Hotel Harrison in Washington Beach.
What does Ken Rosenberg do in Vice City?
Rosenberg is effectively the second lead of Vice City. Wikipedia describes him as a crooked lawyer caught up in the cocaine deal that goes wrong at the start of the game. GTA Wiki says it was Rosenberg who arranged the meeting between the Forellis and the Vance brothers. When it is ambushed, he and Tommy Vercetti are left with nothing but an angry phone call from Sonny Forelli.
Ken hides in his office and sends Tommy out to find answers. He points Tommy towards the exiled Colonel Juan Cortez, which sets the rest of the story in motion. He also hands out early jobs himself. In Jury Fury, for example, Tommy leans on jurors in a case against Sonny's cousin Giorgio Forelli. Other missions linked to him include In The Beginning..., The Party, Back Alley Brawl and Riot.
When Sonny finally arrives in Vice City to collect his money, Rosenberg chooses Tommy over his old clients. He stays at the Vercetti mansion through the final mission, Keep Your Friends Close..., and he is the man Tommy talks to in the closing scene, as the two of them look ahead to running the city.
Why did Ken Rosenberg go to rehab?
Ken's cocaine habit is a running thread in both games. GTA Wiki says his drug use and general unreliability wore down his friendship with Tommy in the years after 1986. In the early 1990s he went into rehab at the Fort Carson Medical Center in San Andreas. The treatment worked for a time, but by then the bond with Tommy was broken and Ken had been disbarred. Once out, the same source says, bad nerves and headaches pushed him back to his old habit.
Ken Rosenberg in San Andreas
By 1992 Rosenberg has landed in Las Venturas. GTA Wiki explains that the Leone, Forelli and Sindacco families share an interest in Caligula's casino and have made Ken its manager, a neutral face between three groups who distrust each other. He spends most of his time hiding in his office, convinced that one family will kill him and pin it on another. Salvatore Leone in particular wants his investment to pay off fast.
Help arrives by chance. His old Vice City acquaintance Kent Paul and Maccer, the last member of Paul's band, turn up in town after Carl "CJ" Johnson rescues them in the mission Don Peyote. Ken hires CJ to keep the mob off his back. The jobs that follow include keeping Johnny Sindacco alive in Intensive Care and the grim mission The Meat Business. CJ later works for both Ken and Salvatore against the Sindaccos and the Forellis, and finally gets Ken, Paul and Maccer out of Las Venturas before Salvatore turns on them.
The move to Los Santos gives Ken a new career. On CJ's suggestion he becomes the accountant for the rapper Madd Dogg. GTA Wiki notes that he is alive at the end of the game, standing at the Johnson house with Kent Paul, Maccer and Madd Dogg as they announce Madd Dogg's first gold record. He also appears in The Introduction, a short prologue film made for San Andreas.

Is Ken Rosenberg in Vice City Stories?
Not in person. GTA Wiki says the prequel Vice City Stories, set in 1984, only refers to his firm, which is described as representing the local news network. He is never seen on screen in that game.
Who voices Ken Rosenberg?
Ken is voiced by the American actor William Fichtner. Wikipedia's Vice City article credits him for the role, and GTA Wiki lists him for San Andreas as well. In both games Ken works as comic relief, a nervous talker set against the harder men around him.
