The Fleeca Job
The Fleeca Job is the first heist in GTA Online, added in the Heists update of 10 March 2015. Lester Crest sets it up as a tutorial for two players: a Driver and a Driller rob a safety deposit box at the Fleeca bank in Banham Canyon, then escape by helicopter. It has two setups, Scope Out and Kuruma, and unlocks The Prison Break.
What is the Fleeca Job in GTA Online?
The Fleeca Job is a small bank robbery that teaches players how heists work in GTA Online. It arrived with the Heists update, which Wikipedia dates to 10 March 2015, after what it calls numerous delays. That update added five multi-part heists in which a team completes setup jobs before a high-paying finale. GTA Wiki lists the Fleeca Job first of the five, and our heists page covers the rest.
The target is safety deposit box 167 at the Fleeca bank on the Great Ocean Highway in Banham Canyon, according to GTA Wiki.
How do you start the Fleeca Job?
GTA Wiki says players must be rank 12 or above to set up heists and must own a high-end apartment with a heist planning room. The Fleeca Job begins the heist tutorial. For this first job only, Lester Crest pays the set-up cost and acts as heist leader. Replays cost the leader $11,500, which GTA Wiki gives as 10% of the base payout. Wikipedia notes that the heist leader is the only player who has to finish the preparation jobs in order. Other players can drop into setups and finales and earn a share for each one they pass.
What are the Fleeca Job setups?
| Setup | What happens (GTA Wiki) |
|---|---|
| Scope Out | Drive Lester to the bank to look it over, then to his garment factory, where Paige Harris loads gear into a Granger to take back to the apartment |
| Kuruma | The second setup; GTA Wiki says completing it unlocks the finale, which is driven in an armoured Kuruma |
During Scope Out, the passenger practises Lester's hacking minigame on the way, the same one used in the finale. GTA Wiki lists rewards for this setup of $5,740 on Easy, $19,680 on Normal and $24,170 on Hard. The mission fails if a player dies, the police are alerted, or Lester or Paige is killed.
What happens in the finale?
The finale splits the work between two roles. The Driver brings the armoured Kuruma, controls the people in the bank and shoots out four ceiling cameras. If the Driver lets the pressure drop, the teller sets off the alarm. The Driller, by default the host, hacks the security system and the vault and then drills the box. The drill works on a four-pin lock and overheats if pushed too hard.
Opening the box brings a three-star wanted level. Eddie Toh waits at the Zancudo Bridge in a Cargobob fitted with an electromagnet, and the crew drives under it to be lifted away past police roadblocks. GTA Wiki notes that this magnet cannot be used in normal play, and suggests the escape may be inspired by the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. The job ends at the Tequi-la-la.
How much does the Fleeca Job pay?
By default the Driller takes 60% of the money and the Driver 40%, according to GTA Wiki. Its current figures for the total take are below. Payouts have changed over time: Wikipedia says the July 2022 update The Criminal Enterprises raised payouts and cut set-up costs for older heists, and GTA Wiki's footnotes show bonus figures that changed with The Kortz Center Heist update in 2026.
| Difficulty | Total payout | During bonus weeks |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | $100,625 | $150,938 |
| Normal | $201,250 | $301,875 |
| Hard | $251,563 | $377,344 |
What is the Fleeca Job Elite Challenge?
The Elite Challenge pays a $50,000 bonus. GTA Wiki lists the conditions: finish in under 5 minutes 20 seconds, no one on the team dies, keep vehicle damage under 6% and do not use a quick restart. The finale also gives the award Head for Heists, worth 800 RP. Finishing it unlocks The Prison Break and the gas mask, and lowers the price of both Kuruma models.
Why is the Fleeca Job important?
It is the only original heist built for two players. GTA Wiki lists the other four as needing four. It is also the first step of the heist challenges: Criminal Mastermind, which GTA Wiki says pays $10,000,000 for finishing every setup and finale in order on Hard with the same team and no lost lives, starts here. Wikipedia reports that critics received the Heists update especially well, praising the teamwork it demanded.
