Weazel News is the fictional TV, radio and web news network of the HD Grand Theft Auto games. It debuted in Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) and returns in Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online. GTA Wiki identifies Fox News as its main target, and its slogans include "Confirming your prejudices". Its bulletins react to what the player does in the story.

What is Weazel News?

Weazel News is the main news brand of the HD universe. It runs a television channel, radio bulletins and a website, and its logo appears on vans, helicopters and billboards. It first appeared in Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008, reporting on events in Liberty City, and has been part of every HD game since.

What does Weazel News parody?

GTA Wiki names Fox News as the main model. The joke starts with the name, since weasels and foxes are both small North American predators, and the first slogan, "Reporting The Right News", plays on the channel's political lean. GTA Wiki lists other influences as well, including the breakfast show Fox & Friends, the 2013 on-screen graphics of CNN and the delivery of New York radio station 1010 WINS.

Which games feature Weazel News?

The table is based on GTA Wiki's Weazel News page. By GTA V the network had a new slogan, "Confirming your prejudices", which mocks the idea that viewers watch the news to hear what they already believe.

How does Weazel News work in gameplay?

In the HD games the network acts as a running commentary on the story. After key missions, radio news bulletins report the results, often from a skewed angle, so players hear their own actions retold as headlines. In Chinatown Wars, one segment picks up on the missions for Wade Heston and Hsin Jaoming.

Weazel graphics also turn up inside missions. GTA Wiki points to the GTA V mission Legal Trouble and to The Gangbanger Robbery in GTA Online. In 2022 a Weazel report was used in GTA Online to introduce The Criminal Enterprises update. The network's news also mentions brands such as Lifeinvader.

Who are the Weazel News reporters?

GTA Wiki lists Jim Harrison as the main anchor on radio and TV and Mike Whitely as the main street reporter on radio. Karl Kelly covers finance; in GTA V, his on-air quarrels with his ex-wife Cynthia Kelly are a running gag. Lazlow Jones, the long-time series radio host, also works as a street reporter.
