Lifeinvader is the fictional social network of Grand Theft Auto V (2013). It is run by Jay Norris from an office in Rockford Hills, Los Santos, and GTA Wiki describes it as a parody of Facebook. Its headquarters is the setting of the mission Friend Request, and its stock trades under the ticker LFI. The site cannot be browsed in GTA Online.

What is Lifeinvader in GTA V?

Lifeinvader is the social media company of the HD universe. In Grand Theft Auto V it exists as a website on the in-game internet, as a brand on billboards and as a real building that the player can enter during the story. Characters, shops and companies all have profile pages, and the site pokes fun at oversharing, online advertising and meme culture.

GTA Wiki calls the site a parody of Facebook and notes that its page layout copies the old Facebook Wall. The same source found no trace of the brand in GTA IV, its episodes or Chinatown Wars, so GTA V is its first appearance.

Who runs Lifeinvader?

The company is led by Jay Norris, a young tech boss who, in the game's backstory, started it in his parents' house. The head office stands in Rockford Hills, the wealthy district of Los Santos. According to GTA Wiki, the building is modelled on the Sonya Dakar Building in Beverly Hills.

What happens in the Friend Request mission?

The Lifeinvader office opens to the player in the mission Friend Request. Lester Crest sends Michael De Santa inside, and Michael rigs a prototype phone so that it becomes a weapon aimed at Jay Norris when the device is unveiled. The job is one of the first to tie the story to the in-game stock market.

Lifeinvader on the stock market

Lifeinvader shares trade on the LCN, the Liberty City National Exchange, under the ticker LFI. GTA Wiki notes that after the events of Friend Request the share price never recovers in story mode. Several of Lester's assassination contracts work the same way, by hurting one company to lift a rival, which is a large part of how players get rich in GTA V.

Can you use Lifeinvader in GTA Online?

No. In GTA Online the website cannot be used, according to GTA Wiki. Rockstar instead offered a Lifeinvader-styled skin for players' Social Club profiles. The brand still shows up in the world on signs and adverts.

Other uses in GTA V

The site has a few small gameplay hooks. GTA Wiki notes that "stalking" the page of Los Santos Customs on Lifeinvader gives the player a coupon for a free respray. Many brands in the game, such as Bean Machine, have pages too, and news outlets like Weazel News refer to the company in their coverage.
