Grapeseed is a small farming town in Blaine County in Grand Theft Auto V (2013) and GTA Online. It lies on the Alamo Sea at the south-eastern foot of Mount Chiliad, north of Sandy Shores. In the story Trevor ends his feud with the O'Neil brothers at their ranch here. GTA Wiki compares it to San Joaquin Valley farm towns such as Lamont.

Where is Grapeseed in GTA V?

Grapeseed is a farm town in the north-east of Blaine County, the countryside of Grand Theft Auto V. GTA Wiki places it on the shore of the Alamo Sea at the south-eastern foot of Mount Chiliad, north of Sandy Shores, south-west of Mount Gordo and west of the San Chianski Mountain Range. Its own slogan calls it the industrial heart of the Alamo Sea, which is a stretch for a place made of fields, silos and a short main street. It has been on the map since GTA V's release on 17 September 2013 and is part of GTA Online.

What is Grapeseed based on?

GTA Wiki compares Grapeseed to the farm towns of California's San Joaquin Valley near Bakersfield, and to Lamont in particular. The wiki thinks the name nods to Lamont's grape farms and the workers who pick them. When Rockstar added Grapeseed police liveries in the GTA Online update The Chop Shop, which Wikipedia dates to 12 December 2023, they were closely modelled on the Bakersfield Police Department, according to GTA Wiki.

There is a 3D-era ancestor too. GTA Wiki names Palomino Creek, a small town in GTA San Andreas (2004), as Grapeseed's equivalent in the older game.

What landmarks are in Grapeseed?

Most of the town is farmland. GTA Wiki lists the Grapeseed Cow Farm, Lucky Jim's Ranch, Shady Tree Farm and Union Grain Farm, plus a train depot and the HJ Silos Galileo Park grain store just south of Union Road. Main Street on the western side has a petrol station, hardware and clothing shops, a farmers' market and a couple of liquor stores. In December 2019 the old supermarket was replaced by the Wonderama Arcade.

Grapeseed is also the easy way up the mountain. GTA Wiki says the eastern slopes of Mount Chiliad above the town are gentle enough to drive all the way to the summit, unlike the steep western face over Paleto Bay. The O'Neil Ranch doubles as one of the game's parachute jump locations, and the flat fields around McKenzie Field suit small planes, which is why the wiki thinks the airstrip once served crop-dusters before Trevor bought it.

What happens in Grapeseed in GTA V?

The town is mostly Trevor's territory in the story. Wikipedia says Trevor Philips tries to take over the black markets of Blaine County, and GTA Wiki shows how often that brings him to Grapeseed. In Mr. Philips he and his crew chase The Lost MC members Terry Thorpe and Clay Simons out of town. In Crystal Maze he kills the O'Neil brothers, his local rivals, and burns down their ranch house.

Grapeseed's fields also catch the end of Caida Libre. GTA Wiki says Michael disables the engines of Javier Madrazo's private jet, it comes down in the fields and kills several workers, and Trevor then executes Javier. The town also appears in Minor Turbulence and in a triathlon. GTA Wiki lists Maude Eccles among the town's residents.

Is Grapeseed in GTA Online?

Yes. GTA Wiki lists jobs such as Chop Chop, Potshot, Crystal Clear Out III and the survival mode Farmhouse Survival, and gang attacks at McKenzie Field Hangar and at R L Hunter & Sons. Homes are sold at 1893 and 1932 Grapeseed Avenue.
