Lamar Davis is Franklin Clinton's best friend in Grand Theft Auto V (2013). A member of the Families gang in South Los Santos, he works with Franklin as a car repo man and keeps getting into trouble that Franklin must fix. He is a major contact in GTA Online, from the first minutes to The Contract. Slink Johnson voices him.

Who is Lamar in GTA V?

Lamar Davis is the loudest voice in Franklin Clinton's life. He is Franklin's best friend and closest companion in Grand Theft Auto V, which came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 on 17 September 2013, according to Wikipedia. Where Franklin wants to move up and out, Lamar is happy to stay in the old neighbourhood and chase quick money.

The GTA Wiki (gta.wiki) says Lamar belongs to the Families gang (for the gang's earlier history, see our Grove Street Families page). He started in the Chamberlain Gangster Families set and later formed the Forum Drive Families set with Franklin. He lives on Forum Drive in Strawberry. Rockstar's Dan Houser, quoted on the same page, called him crazy in a good way and very funny.

What happens to Lamar in GTA V?

At the start of the game, Lamar and Franklin repossess cars for the dealer Simeon Yetarian. Their first missions together are a race back to the dealership and a repo job on a motorbike in Vagos territory. The GTA Wiki says that job goes wrong and gets both men fired.

Lamar's dog, Chop, also comes into the story early. After the mission "Chop", in which the friends track down a member of the Ballas, Lamar asks Franklin to look after the dog. Franklin keeps him for good.

Lamar's worst habit is trusting the wrong people. His old friend Harold "Stretch" Joseph comes out of prison and joins the pair. A drug deal Stretch arranges in "The Long Stretch" turns out to be an ambush. Later, in "Lamar Down", Stretch sets Lamar up with the Ballas at the Paleto Forest Sawmill. Lamar is captured, and Franklin, Michael and Trevor rescue him. Wikipedia sums this up as Stretch setting Lamar up and trying to kill him several times.

Does Lamar get along with Michael and Trevor?

Not equally. The GTA Wiki notes that Lamar cannot hang out with Michael and may say he does not like him, while Michael keeps calling him "Franklin's buddy". Trevor is another story. Lamar enjoys his company from their first job together, the mission "Hood Safari", and Lamar can join Franklin and Trevor at the same time for friend activities.

What does Lamar do in the GTA V ending?

In the third and canonical ending, where Franklin refuses to kill either partner, Lamar joins the final stand at a foundry against the FIB and Merryweather. Wikipedia says he helps the three leads in that fight. The GTA Wiki adds that he leaves before the end and later phones Franklin to say he is alive.
