The Los Santos Vagos (LSV) are a Mexican-American street gang in Los Santos who wear yellow. In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) they hold East Los Santos and Las Colinas, fight the Aztecas and quietly protect Big Smoke's drug business. In GTA V and GTA Online they run Rancho and are frequent enemies of Lamar and the player.

Who are the Los Santos Vagos?

The Los Santos Vagos are a Mexican-American gang from the east side of Los Santos. Yellow is their colour, usually as a bandana in San Andreas and as yellow T-shirts in GTA V. Like the Ballas, GTA Wiki treats the gang as two separate groups: one in the 3D universe of 1992 and another in the HD universe of 2013.

In San Andreas they are one of the two gangs the player fights in gang wars, shown in yellow on the map. GTA Wiki calls them the largest of the Latino gangs in the city, and their long war with the smaller Varrios Los Aztecas shapes the story of Cesar Vialpando, CJ's ally.

Where is Vagos territory in San Andreas?

GTA Wiki lists East Beach, East Los Santos, Las Colinas and Los Flores as Vagos turf in 1992. Before that year the gang also held the northern part of East Los Santos, but by 1992 the Ballas had taken it. For a short stretch the Vagos also hold El Corona, Little Mexico and Unity Station, which they grab from the Aztecas in the mission Gone Courting and lose again in Los Desperados.

The gang's usual cars are the Hermes and Tornado, both two-door classics, and the four-door Oceanic, which the wiki says they use for chases because it seats four.

What do the Vagos do in the San Andreas story?

On the street the Vagos hate the Ballas, but GTA Wiki says senior members of both gangs work together in the crack trade and protect Big Smoke's operation. That makes them part of the network that betrays Grove Street, even though they never join the Ballas openly.

Their first appearance is Catalyst, where CJ and Ryder rob a Vagos-guarded train carrying ammunition. In Wrong Side of the Tracks Vagos members riding a train are the targets, and in Burning Desire CJ sets fire to a Vagos gang house in East Los Santos. A member called Freddy is chased down in the mission OG Loc.

The gang's possible leader, according to GTA Wiki, is a drug dealer called Big Poppa, who has bought the rapper Madd Dogg's mansion. He is killed in the mission A Home in the Hills. The wiki says the gang loses much of its influence once Big Smoke dies in End of the Line.

Are the Vagos in GTA V?

Yes. In the HD universe, GTA Wiki says the Vagos control almost all of Rancho, with hotspots around Jamestown Street and the Rancho Projects, and an East Side set in Cypress Flats. The wiki names three sets: North Side Vagos, Original LS Vagos and East Side Vagos. A phone call in the game hints that the gang is spreading into Las Venturas.

Their main story role comes early. In Repossession, Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis go after a Bagger motorbike owned by a Vagos member and end up in a gunfight; GTA Wiki notes that Lamar keeps the bike. The Vagos are also the target of one of Trevor Philips's rampages, and they attack the crew during the Series A Funding finale.

The Vagos in GTA Online

The Vagos are one of the most common enemy gangs in GTA Online. GTA Wiki lists early contact missions from Lamar and Gerald, gang attacks and their role as the main villains of Lowriders, which Wikipedia dates to 10 October 2015. The wiki names Edgar Carlos as the boss killed by the player on Lamar's orders in that update.

Later updates keep bringing them back. In The Contract, released on 15 December 2021 according to Wikipedia, the wiki says a North Side Vagos leader leaked Dr. Dre's unreleased music, which led the Ballas and The Families to team up against them. GTA Wiki also lists Vagos roles in After Hours nightclub jobs and in The Diamond Casino Heist, and shows them dealing with The Lost MC.
