SF-UR, short for San Fierro Underground Radio, is the house music station in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004). It plays sixteen Chicago house, acid house and early UK dance records from the mid-1980s to 1991. Its host is Hans Oberlander, an eccentric character voiced, according to the GTA Wiki, by Lloyd Floyd.

What is SF-UR in GTA San Andreas?

SF-UR is the dance station of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. As the name suggests, it is presented as a pirate-style underground station from San Fierro, the game's take on San Francisco. Where most stations in the game lean on rap, rock or soul, SF-UR is built entirely around house music: the Chicago records that started the genre and the British acid house that followed.

For every station in the game and the wider series, see the GTA radio stations hub.

Who is the DJ on SF-UR?

The host is Hans Oberlander, a spaced-out European character who talks about dancing, clubs and his own odd ideas between records. The GTA Wiki credits the voice to Lloyd Floyd. The station's robotic ident jokes that it is commercial free, which fits its underground image; the GTA Wiki reads this as a sign the station was meant to run without adverts.

Which songs play on SF-UR?

The GTA Wiki lists sixteen tracks dating from 1986 to 1991. A selection of the best-known:

Who listens to SF-UR in the game?

In San Andreas each gang and many pedestrian types have a favourite station, heard when you take their cars. According to the GTA Wiki, SF-UR is the station of choice for the San Fierro Triads and the Da Nang Boys, and it is also popular with taxi drivers. Hearing it in a car is a quick clue that you are in San Fierro territory.

Why is SF-UR missing from the soundtrack box set?

Interscope released an eight-disc box set of the San Andreas soundtrack in December 2004, according to Wikipedia. The GTA Wiki notes that SF-UR is the only music station from the game not included in that set, so its songs can only be heard together in the game itself.

Did SF-UR lose any songs?

No. While many San Andreas stations lost tracks when licences ran out, the GTA Wiki says SF-UR keeps all of its songs in The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition, as do CSR 103.9 and K-Rose. One extra song may have been planned: magazine staff who played a pre-release build in late 2004 reported hearing Lil Louis's "French Kiss", but it is not in the finished game.
