Vladivostok FM
Vladivostok FM, heard in Grand Theft Auto IV (2008), plays Russian and Eastern European pop, rock and hip hop. It is hosted by the Ukrainian singer Ruslana. For The Ballad of Gay Tony it switches to dance and house music with DJ Paul. Many of its original songs were removed from digital copies in April 2018 when licences ran out.
What is Vladivostok FM?
Vladivostok FM is one of the music stations on the car radio in Grand Theft Auto IV, released on 29 April 2008. Its playlist is built around songs from Russia and the former Soviet states, which fits the game's lead, Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant newly arrived in Liberty City. Our GTA radio stations overview puts it alongside the other stations of the game.
Who hosts Vladivostok FM?
In GTA IV and The Lost and Damned the host is Ruslana Lyzhychko, the Ukrainian singer who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004, according to the GTA Wiki's station page. In The Ballad of Gay Tony the station is handed to a new presenter, DJ Paul according to the GTA Wiki, and the sound changes completely.
What kind of music does it play?
The original line-up mixes Russian-language pop, rock and rap. Bands such as Kino and Splean sit next to rap from Basta and Seryoga, whose track was written with Liberty City in its title. For The Ballad of Gay Tony, set in the city's nightclub world, Vladivostok FM was turned into a club station playing house and dance records from Western producers.

Why were songs removed from Vladivostok FM?
Music licences for GTA IV were bought for a set term. When they expired, an update on 26 April 2018 took a large share of the game's licensed music out of the digital and PC versions, and the GTA Wiki notes that Vladivostok FM lost more than any other station. Most of the Russian-language songs went, together with several dance tracks from the episodes. Some replacement songs were added, a few of them newer than the game's 2008 setting. Disc copies on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that were never patched still carry the full original playlist.
