Bean Machine

Bean Machine is a fictional coffee shop chain in the HD Grand Theft Auto games. It first appears in Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) with branches in Liberty City, and returns in Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online with cafés across Los Santos. GTA Wiki calls it a likely spoof of Starbucks and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. It is mostly scenery, with a stock and a mission cameo in GTA V.

What is Bean Machine in GTA?

Bean Machine is the coffee chain of the HD universe, the place where office workers in the games grab their morning drink. According to GTA Wiki, the company's fictional history says it was founded in 1970. It first appears in Grand Theft Auto IV and has been part of the background of every HD game since, from Liberty City to Los Santos.

What is Bean Machine a parody of?

GTA Wiki describes the chain as probably a spoof of Starbucks and of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the Los Angeles coffee company, and notes that its logo looks like that of Costa Coffee. Rockstar has not said so directly, so treat the comparison as a fan reading. The humour is in the menu: GTA IV adverts push drinks such as the High Noon and the Gunkacchino.

What can you do at Bean Machine?

Not much directly. The cafés cannot be entered as shops, and GTA Wiki notes that the Bean Machine vending machines in GTA V and GTA Online do not work. Pedestrians walk around carrying the chain's cups, which can also be found as small loose props.

In GTA IV the brand is heard more than seen. It runs adverts on TV and radio, and it sponsors the show "I'm Rich" on the CNT channel. In GTA V it has two small gameplay hooks: players can buy its shares on the LCN exchange website, and a branch appears in the mission Reuniting the Family, where Michael meets his son Jimmy.

Is Bean Machine in GTA VI?

Rockstar has not detailed which brands return in GTA VI, so this page makes no claim either way.
