Flash FM is the pop station of Vice City. In GTA Vice City (2002) it is hosted by Toni and plays chart hits such as Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and Laura Branigan's "Self Control". It came back in Vice City Stories (2006) with Toni and Teri at the mic, and Rockstar's official GTA VI music page lists it among the new game's stations.

What is Flash FM?

Flash FM is the mainstream pop station heard on the car radios of Vice City. It plays the synth-heavy chart music that was everywhere in the mid-1980s, when Vice City is set. It is one of the stations most closely tied to the game, alongside V-Rock and Wave 103.

Who is the DJ on Flash FM?

In Vice City the host is Toni, a bubbly presenter whose links between songs mix gossip, self-promotion and tales about stars she claims to know. According to gta.wiki, one of her stories is a thinly disguised nod to Duran Duran. In Vice City Stories, a prequel set in 1984, Toni shares the station with a second host, Teri. Julie Wemyss, who also wrote and sang songs credited to the fictional duo Conor & Jay, sings some of the station jingles.

What songs are on Flash FM?

The playlists are made up of real licensed hits. A short selection from both games, taken from the tracklists on gta.wiki:

Which Flash FM songs were removed?

Music licences do not last for ever. gta.wiki lists "Billie Jean" as missing from the mobile versions, the PS2 Classics releases on PlayStation consoles and The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. A few songs, such as Glenn Frey's "Smuggler's Blues" and Toto's "Hold the Line", were on the Flash FM disc of the European soundtrack box set without ever being in the game.

Is Flash FM in GTA VI?

Yes. Flash FM is one of six stations Rockstar previews on the official Grand Theft Auto VI music page, alongside Cocoteo, Back Country, Afro Bank FM, The Chamber and Dirty South Classics. The game returns to a modern-day Vice City in the state of Leonida; the full station list is in the GTA radio stations hub.

How was the Vice City radio received?

Wikipedia notes that critics widely praised the radio of Vice City and felt the licensed 1980s music suited the setting. Epic Records sold the station music as a seven-album box set released alongside the game in October 2002, and the talk radio grew to roughly three times the amount in GTA III.

Where can I read about the other stations?

Our GTA radio stations hub covers every game in the series. For the rest of the 1980s line-up, see our articles on V-Rock, Emotion 98.3, Wave 103, Fever 105.
