Fastest cars in GTA 5

Updated 5 November 2026 · Fan site. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

Measured by real testing rather than the in-game stat bars, the fastest cars are the Grotti Vigilante in the Super class at 146.75 mph, the Annis ZR380 (Arena) in Sports at 142.00 mph and the Declasse Weevil Custom in Muscle at 137.50 mph. All figures come from Broughy1322's tests as listed by GTABase in November 2026.

Where do these numbers come from?

The speed bars on the in-game car screens are not reliable. GTABase says it stopped ranking cars by those stats for that reason. Its class rankings now use tests by the YouTuber Broughy1322, who drove each vehicle around one circuit and noted its best lap. The pages also list a tested top speed for every car. The figures below come from those GTABase pages, which were marked as updated to November 2026.

Top speed and lap time are different things. A car with a high top speed can still lose a race if it brakes or corners badly, so GTABase ranks each class by lap time. We sort by top speed here and show the lap time beside it so you can compare.

Which Super cars are fastest?

GTABase marks the Vigilante as not raceable, so it tops the speed list but cannot be picked for standard races. Of the cars you can race, the Grotti Veleno GT had the highest tested top speed.

Which Sports cars are fastest?

The Banshee GTS from Bravado sets the best lap of these three, even though it is the slowest of them in a straight line.

Which Muscle cars are fastest?

Can you drive these cars in story mode?

Mostly not. Many of these cars were added to GTA Online in later updates and are not part of the GTA V story mode. The GTABase tests cover the Online versions. For a general overview of the series' cars, see GTA vehicles.

Will these rankings change?

Yes. Rockstar adds new cars in most updates, so the fastest car in a class can change. Treat this list as a snapshot of November 2026.
