Molotov Cocktail
The Molotov Cocktail is a thrown fire weapon that has been in every Grand Theft Auto game since GTA 2 (1999). It shatters on impact and spreads flames, making it useful against groups and vehicles. It is bought from shops or dealers in most games and found at fixed pickup spots, and in GTA V it comes from map pickups and the Gun Van.
What is the Molotov Cocktail in GTA?

Which GTA games have Molotov Cocktails?
According to GTA Wiki, every game since GTA 2 has them, which covers GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA Advance, both Stories games, GTA IV and its episodes, Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online. In GTA 2 they explode only when they hit something and are strong against cars. In GTA IV they are the only fire weapon the player can use, since there is no Flamethrower.

Prices come from GTA Wiki. In Chinatown Wars, Huang Lee can carry up to 99. In GTA Online, GTA Wiki lists crate drops, some business shooting ranges and certain contract missions as sources.
How does fire work with the Molotov?
Per GTA Wiki, in the 3D games apart from GTA III, one or two bottles can bring down a helicopter, and Molotovs can even destroy the Rhino tank. In San Andreas, throwing any thrown weapon earns a one-star wanted level. In several 3D games, finishing the firefighter side missions makes the player fireproof. In GTA IV, shooting an enemy holding a lit bottle makes them drop it and catch fire. In GTA V and GTA Online, people on foot burn for around ten seconds, but other online players burn only briefly, so it takes many bottles to finish one.
Molotov trivia
GTA Wiki notes that the bottle's brand changes by game: in GTA IV it is a Cherenkov vodka bottle, while GTA V uses Logger Beer.
