The Sticky Bomb is a remote explosive that clings to whatever it hits. It first appeared in The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009) and returned in GTA V and GTA Online. In GTA V it costs $400 at Ammu-Nation after the mission Friends Reunited; in Online it unlocks at rank 19. The player sets it off with a button press or by shooting it.

What is the Sticky Bomb in GTA?

The Sticky Bomb is a throwable charge that sticks to the first surface it touches, whether that is a wall, the ground or a car. Unlike a grenade, it does not go off on a timer in GTA V. It waits until the player triggers it, which makes it the series' main tool for traps and planned ambushes. It belongs to the throwables segment of the weapon wheel covered in our weapons guide.

Where do you get Sticky Bombs?

GTA Wiki says that in The Ballad of Gay Tony Luis Lopez is handed them in Bang Bang and later missions, and a supply appears at his safehouse after 40 drug wars. GTA V also hides some on the map, including on underwater wrecks. In Online they turn up in bunker resupply crates and in the hangar.

How do you detonate a Sticky Bomb?

After throwing, the player sets the charges off with a single button (down on the D-pad on consoles), and every placed bomb goes at once. Shooting a placed bomb also triggers it. GTA Wiki notes that in The Ballad of Gay Tony a bomb explodes by itself after 90 seconds, and that game allows ten at a time. GTA V allows 20 (five in Online), and placing one more removes the oldest.

Which missions use Sticky Bombs?

In GTA V, Trevor gets 25 in Friends Reunited to blow up trailers belonging to The Lost MC, which is also when the weapon unlocks. GTA Wiki lists more uses: Michael carries 11 on the freighter approach of The Merryweather Heist, Franklin gets five in Blitz Play, and Franklin carries 11 on the obvious approach of The Big Score.

How strong is it against tanks?

GTA Wiki says tanks take extra damage from Sticky Bombs compared with a normal explosion, so three are enough to destroy a Rhino in Online. Players also hide one inside a car door as a cheap stand-in for a fitted car bomb.
