Umberto Robina leads the Cuban street gang of Little Havana in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) and its 2006 prequel Vice City Stories. In 1984 he hires Victor Vance against rival gangs; in 1986 he recruits Tommy Vercetti for his war on the Haitians. He survives both games. Danny Trejo voices him.

Who is Umberto Robina?

Umberto Robina is the proud, hot-blooded boss of the Cuban gang in Vice City. GTA Wiki says he was born in Cuba, the son of Alberto Robina, and that he runs his crew from his father's café, Café Robina, in Little Havana. He talks constantly about courage and manhood and has little patience for anyone he sees as weak.

He appears in two games: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, released on 29 October 2002 in North America, and the prequel Vice City Stories, which reached the PSP on 31 October 2006, according to Wikipedia.

What does Umberto do in Vice City Stories?

In 1984 Umberto is already fighting for turf. Wikipedia describes him as the leader of Los Cabrones, a Cuban street gang, who comes to respect Victor Vance after Vic deals with their rivals. GTA Wiki says those rivals are the Cholos, and that Umberto later helps Vic and Lance Vance fight off an attack by the Mendez brothers.

What missions does Umberto give in Vice City?

By 1986 his enemy is the Haitian gang across the border in Little Haiti. GTA Wiki says he first phones Tommy Vercetti by mistake, thinking he is someone else, and invites him to the café. Tommy's work for him includes hitting a Haitian drug deal and, finally, destroying the Haitian drug factory. After that, Umberto declares that Tommy is Cuban in spirit, a line fans still quote.

The awkward part is that Tommy is working both sides at the same time, since the Haitians are also giving him jobs. Our Vice City missions page lists the strand in full.

Who voices Umberto Robina?

Danny Trejo, the actor known for tough-guy film roles, voices Umberto. Wikipedia credits him in Vice City Stories, and GTA Wiki says he played the part in Vice City as well and that the character closely resembles him.

Does Umberto Robina die?

No. GTA Wiki lists him as alive at the end of both games, which makes him one of the few Vice City crime figures who outlasts the stories he appears in. Several people he worked with, including Victor and Lance Vance, do not.
