West Coast Classics is the classic hip hop station in Grand Theft Auto V (2013) and GTA Online. It is hosted by DJ Pooh, who chose its playlist of West Coast rap from artists such as Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and N.W.A. The Contract update later added songs tied to Dr. Dre's role in GTA Online.

What is West Coast Classics?

West Coast Classics is a hip hop station in Grand Theft Auto V devoted to the rap of California in the late 1980s and 1990s. It is the spiritual successor of Radio Los Santos from San Andreas, which covered the same era from inside it. In GTA V a newer Radio Los Santos plays current rap, leaving the old school to this station. More stations are on our GTA radio stations page.

Who is the DJ on West Coast Classics?

The host is DJ Pooh, the Los Angeles producer and writer, who according to the GTA Wiki picked every song on the station himself. In the story, the GTA Wiki names Franklin and Lamar among the characters who favour it.

What changed with The Contract?

The Contract, a 2021 GTA Online update starring Franklin and Dr. Dre, gave the station extra material. The GTA Wiki lists a Dr. Dre themed set that includes the single version of "California Love" by 2Pac with Roger Troutman and Dr. Dre.

Was there a dispute over West Coast Classics songs?

Yes. The GTA Wiki reports that in 2013 the producer Daz Dillinger objected to the use of two tracks he had produced, "C-Walk" and "Nothin' But the Cavi Hit", and sent a cease-and-desist letter. The claim was later dropped and both songs stayed on the station.

Wikipedia reports a generally positive reception for the GTA V soundtrack as a whole; no review of this station on its own was found.
