What is Albany in GTA?

Albany is the series' home-grown luxury marque. It builds large saloons, SUVs, limousines and classic coupés, and even a travel trailer, the White Liner. Its taglines include "American Quality" and "Born in America". For the full brand picture, see the GTA vehicles hub.

Which real car brand is Albany based on?

Mostly Cadillac, according to the GTA Wiki, with some cars borrowing from Lincoln and Buick instead. The crown in its badge plays on the crest-style logos of American luxury brands. The name probably comes from the city of Albany in New York state. The GTA Wiki adds that Alba is the Gaelic name for Scotland, home of Rockstar North, though it is not clear the link is deliberate.

Albany first turns up in GTA IV, released on 29 April 2008 according to Wikipedia. The brand then carries on through the handheld Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online, which keeps adding new models with its updates. Wikipedia notes that the cars of GTA IV are not copies of any single real vehicle but mix elements of several with the developers' own ideas, and the brand system grew out of that approach.

What are the best-known Albany cars?

Several of these names are familiar from GTA IV's Liberty City, where the Washington and Emperor are everyday sights and the Stretch is the limo of choice. A taxi variant, Roman's Taxi, belongs to the cab firm run by Roman Bellic.

Is there an Albany dealership?

In GTA V the brand has what looks like a rundown dealership, Mosley Auto Service, in Davis, south Los Santos, according to the GTA Wiki. It is scenery rather than a working showroom.
