GTA Online nightclubs

Updated · Fan site. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

Nightclubs are a business in GTA Online added by the After Hours update on 24 July 2018. The player buys a club at one of ten locations and runs it with Gay Tony Prince. The club earns legal money based on its popularity, real DJs can be booked as residents, and its basement warehouse gathers goods from the player's other businesses for sale in one trip.

What is the After Hours update?

After Hours is the GTA Online update that added nightclubs. GTA Wiki says Rockstar announced it on 19 July 2018, and Wikipedia gives a release date of 24 July 2018. Wikipedia describes the premise as the player opening a club with Tony Prince and using it as cover for illegal trade. Tony is the club owner from The Ballad of Gay Tony, and the update marked his return to the series. Radio host Lazlow also joins the staff.

How do you buy a nightclub?

GTA Wiki says clubs are bought from the Maze Bank Foreclosures website, with ten sites around the map, and that the base price ranges from about $1.08 million to $1.70 million depending on location. Owners then choose a name, style and lighting. One of the preset names is Tony's Fun House.

How does a nightclub make money?

There are two income streams. The first is the club itself. GTA Wiki explains that it pays into a safe each in-game day, with the amount tied to popularity: a full club pays far more than an empty one. Popularity falls over time and is raised by management jobs such as promotion runs and fetching celebrity guests, which Lazlow hands out.

The second stream is the basement warehouse, and it is what makes the club useful to established players. Wikipedia says each club hides an underground area for smuggling. According to GTA Wiki, technicians there slowly collect goods linked to the player's other businesses, without any supply runs:

Warehouse goodsLinked business
Cargo and ShipmentsCEO special cargo warehouse or hangar
Sporting GoodsBunker
South American ImportsMC cocaine lockup
Pharmaceutical ResearchMC meth lab
Organic ProduceMC weed farm
Printing and CopyingMC document forgery office
Cash CreationMC counterfeit cash factory

The player can employ as many as five technicians, starting with Yohan, and extra basement floors add storage. The five MC entries come from the Bikers update.

Which upgrades are worth buying?

GTA Wiki lists three upgrades. Equipment speeds up the technicians' production. Staff slows the daily loss of popularity. Security makes enemy raids less frequent and adds a gun locker. Rockstar changes prices and payouts over time, so we do not quote income figures here.

Who are the resident DJs?

Real DJs were a selling point. Wikipedia names Solomun, Tale of Us, Dixon and The Black Madonna, who can be booked after the player does them a favour, and who also play on the new radio station LS-UR. GTA Wiki adds that each DJ had a residency week with its own vehicle release.

What vehicles came with After Hours?

The best known is the Oppressor Mk II, a flying hoverbike that GTA Wiki dates to 7 August 2018 and that Wikipedia says became notorious for griefing. The Terrorbyte, a large armoured truck released on 14 August 2018, can be parked in a club's lowest basement floor. The update also added the Stone Hatchet melee weapon.
