Mikhail Faustin
Mikhail Faustin is a Russian mob boss in Grand Theft Auto IV (2008). Based in Hove Beach, he kidnaps Niko Bellic and Roman, then puts Niko to work as a hitman. His order to kill Lenny Petrovic sparks a feud that ends when his lieutenant Dimitri Rascalov has Niko kill him. Karel Roden voices him.
Who is Mikhail Faustin?
Mikhail Faustin heads a Russian crime outfit in Grand Theft Auto IV. Wikipedia's plot summary names him as the boss who, together with his lieutenant Dimitri Rascalov, has Niko Bellic and his cousin Roman seized early in the story. He then lets them go and hires Niko as a hitman.
The GTA Wiki (gta.wiki) gives his birth as roughly 1963 in the Soviet Union. It says he first met Dimitri while doing military service, that the two later shared a cell in a Siberian camp, and that he settled in Hove Beach in the late 1990s. From there he ran a racket that, by that source's account, included the Perestroika cabaret, protection money and stolen goods.
What happens between Faustin and Vlad?
Faustin's men grab Niko and Roman shortly after Niko kills the loan shark Vlad Glebov. According to Wikipedia, Faustin is unbothered by Vlad's death. The GTA Wiki adds that he only tolerated Vlad because of an affair with Vlad's sister.
Why does Niko kill Faustin?
Faustin's habits make him unpredictable, and the GTA Wiki notes his drug use was getting worse by 2008. Convinced that Lenny Petrovic is talking to the police, he has Niko kill Lenny, who is the son of the powerful mobster Kenny Petrovic. That move starts a war between the two Russian camps.
Wikipedia says Dimitri then persuades Niko to assassinate Faustin to satisfy Petrovic. The hit takes place in the mission "The Master and the Molotov": the GTA Wiki describes a gunfight at Perestroika that ends with Niko shooting Faustin on the roof and the boss falling from it. Dimitri's betrayal of Niko follows straight after, which is covered on our Dimitri Rascalov page.
