Pißwasser is the fictional beer brand of Grand Theft Auto's HD era, a German export lager first seen in GTA IV (2008). It returns in Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online. The name roughly means "piss water", slang for weak beer, and GTA Wiki says the branding sends up Budweiser. In GTA V characters can drink it at home.

What is Pißwasser in GTA?

Pißwasser is the series' bargain beer. GTA Wiki explains the name as German "Wasser" (water) joined to a crude word for urine, giving roughly "piss water", a common insult for thin, watery beer. The brand's own adverts and website lean on the same toilet joke.

The branding is a send-up of Budweiser, according to GTA Wiki, which also lists spin-offs mirroring Bud Light, Bud Ice and an alcohol-free Budweiser. Short taglines include "Ice Cold Gold".

Which GTA games feature Pißwasser?

The beer arrives in GTA IV, where bottles stand on bar counters around Liberty City and the brand is advertised on billboards, TV and radio. It carries on in Episodes from Liberty City, Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online.

Can you drink Pißwasser in GTA V?

Yes. In GTA V, Franklin can drink it at his home and Trevor at his trailer in Sandy Shores, according to GTA Wiki. It is stocked at 24/7 and Xero Gas stores and listed on the BAWSAQ stock market. In GTA Online players can drink it in their apartments, and it turns up as a vehicle sponsor.

Why is Pißwasser written with ß?

The sharp s (ß) is a German letter that stands for a double s, so the spelling makes the brand look German while keeping the joke readable to English speakers. Many players and sites simply write it as Pisswasser.
