Updated · Fan site. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

A classic muscle coupé and convertible, the Stallion is one of the oldest vehicles in Grand Theft Auto, appearing in the first game in 1997. From GTA III on it is modelled mainly on the 1970 Oldsmobile 442, while its name plays on the Ford Mustang. In GTA IV it carries a Classique badge, and GTA V sells it as a Declasse.

What is the Stallion in GTA?

The Stallion is a classic American muscle car that has been part of the vehicle line-up almost since the start. It appears in the top-down Grand Theft Auto (1997), in every main 3D-era game from GTA III (2001), and in GTA IV (2008). It was missing from the original 2013 release of GTA V and arrived in the later enhanced versions of GTA V and GTA Online.

The badge depends on the game. In GTA IV it is a Classique, the DS version of Chinatown Wars shows it as a Vapid on Rockstar's papercraft model, and GTA V lists it as a Declasse in the online car store while the car itself still says Classique.

What real car is the Stallion based on?

According to the GTA Wiki, the 3D and HD cars are built mostly on the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertible, with lights and rear details from the 1971 to 1972 models and a twin-scoop bonnet like the one offered on the 1967 to 1968 Mercury Cougar. The name points somewhere else: like the Ford Mustang, it is a word for a horse. The 1997 car instead resembles a first-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Wikipedia notes that Oldsmobile sold the 442 from 1964, first as an option on the F-85 and Cutlass.

Where can you find the Stallion?

In GTA IV it is common in Northwood and the Holland districts of Algonquin. In GTA V it shows up in Davis and Strawberry and can be bought online for $71,000. The GTA Wiki notes that GTA Online gave it away free to returning players, and from July 2021 to everyone.
