The story missions of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) follow CJ in six stages: Los Santos, the countryside, San Fierro, the desert, Las Venturas and a return to Los Santos. The GTA Wiki lists 101 missions in total. The story opens with In the Beginning and ends with End of the Line, which needs 35% of Los Santos gang territory.
How many missions are in GTA San Andreas?
The GTA Wiki's mission list for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas gives a total of 101 missions. That count mixes the main storyline with a few optional strands, so you will see slightly different numbers quoted elsewhere. Wikipedia describes the missions as linear scenarios with set goals that move the story on, while the rest of the open world is there to explore between them. The plot itself is covered on our game page and on CJ's page; this page maps where each job sits. Contacts appear as letters on the radar, and the tables group their jobs by region in story order. The GTA Wiki's 100% guide marks Zero's remote-control jobs, the Wang Cars missions and Back to School as optional for the story but needed for full completion; open-world work such as taxi driving is on our side missions page. Wikipedia's reception section notes that some critics found long drives and replays after failure tiring, and the hardest-remembered job, Wrong Side of the Tracks, became a meme.
Los Santos missions
The first act takes place in Los Santos. CJ is back home after his mother's death and helps his brother Sweet rebuild the Grove Street Families against the Ballas. Side contacts include Cesar Vialpando, who brings in lowrider events and street racing, and the would-be rapper OG Loc. The act ends with The Green Sabre, where the betrayal by Big Smoke and Ryder comes out.
