Infernus

Updated · Fan site. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

The Infernus is the longest-running supercar in Grand Theft Auto. It first showed up in GTA III (2001), appeared in every later 3D-era game, and returned as a Pegassi in GTA IV, Chinatown Wars, GTA V and GTA Online. Each era redraws it after a different real exotic, from the Lamborghini Diablo and Countach to the Murciélago.

What is the Infernus in GTA?

The Infernus is a two-door mid-engined supercar and one of the fastest road cars in most games it appears in. It belongs to the small group of names, with the Banshee and the Cheetah, that Rockstar has carried from the 3D era into the HD era. Our GTA vehicles hub explains how the series' parody brands work.

The gta.wiki page on the 3D version lists a file-only entry in Grand Theft Auto Advance, but the car is not normally seen in that game. The San Andreas version is the odd one out: instead of an Italian exotic it borrows from the Japanese Acura NSX.

Who makes the Infernus?

In the HD games the badge reads Pegassi, the brand that spoofs Lamborghini. gta.wiki notes that besides the Murciélago, the modern body takes its rear and vents from early Pagani Zonda models and places the tail lights much like the Spyker C8.

Where can you find the Infernus?

In GTA III it roams Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale, and one tends to sit in the Francis International Airport car park. Vice City parks one in front of Diaz's mansion on Starfish Island, which later becomes Tommy's. In San Andreas it can turn up in all three cities and can be imported at Easter Basin for $76,000 once the export lists allow it.

GTA IV only lets it spawn regularly after the mission Buoys Ahoy, mostly around Star Junction, Middle Park and parts of Bohan. In Chinatown Wars it costs $1,000 from the Auto Merchant and is common in Algonquin. In GTA V it sells for $440,000 at Southern San Andreas Super Autos and can be seen around Vespucci Beach and the Richman Hotel; GTA Online players pay the same price at Legendary Motorsport.

Which missions feature the Infernus?

In GTA III, Rigged to Blow gives the player a few minutes to take an Infernus to a garage. In Vice City, Lance Vance drives a white one in Guardian Angels. In GTA IV, Bernie Crane hands Niko an orange Infernus as thanks in Buoys Ahoy, and in The Lost and Damned Johnny steals a similar car in Knowing Me, Knowing You. Vice City Stories has a fireproof red version in Accidents Will Happen.

The car is also a regular target in car-collection side jobs: Import/Export in GTA III, Exports and Imports in San Andreas, Stevie's Car Thefts in GTA IV, and Simeon's export requests in GTA Online.
